Librax

All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. Check with your doctor if any of these most COMMON side effects persist or become bothersome when using Librax:

Bloating; blurred vision; clumsiness; confusion; constipation; decreased sweating; difficulty sleeping; dizziness; enlarged pupils; excessive daytime drowsiness; headache; lack of coordination; lightheadedness; nausea; nervousness; unsteadiness.

Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur when using Librax:

Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); changes in heartbeat; decreased urination; decreased sexual ability or desire; diarrhea; difficulty focusing your eyes; fainting; fast heartbeat; fever, chills, or persistent sore throat; involuntary muscle movements; loss of taste; mental or mood changes; overexcitement; overstimulation; pounding in the chest; swelling; unusual weakness; vomiting; yellowing of the skin or eyes.

Librax Capsules

All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor side effects. Check with your doctor if any of these most COMMON side effects persist or become bothersome when using Librax Capsules:

Blurred vision; constipation; drowsiness; dry mouth.

Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur when using Librax Capsules:

Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); behavior changes (eg, excessive anger or rage); changes in sexual desire; changes in the menstrual period; confusion; difficulty urinating; excitability; fainting; loss of coordination; sore throat or fever; swelling; yellowing of the skin or eyes.

Side Effects by Body System

Nervous system

The elderly and debilitated may be more susceptible to the side effects of chlordiazepoxide-clidinium. Drowsiness, ataxia, and confusion have occasionally been reported at the lower dosage ranges.

Nervous system side effects have included drowsiness, ataxia, confusion, and extrapyramidal symptoms. Chlordiazepoxide-clidinium may impair the psychomotor skills necessary for driving. Changes in electroencephalogram (EEG) patterns (low-voltage fast activity) have been reported during and after chlordiazepoxide treatment.

Gastrointestinal

Gastrointestinal side effects have included nausea, constipation, and dryness of the mouth.

Hematologic

Hematologic side effects have included blood dyscrasias (including agranulocytosis).

Hepatic

Hepatic side effects have included jaundice and hepatic dysfunction.

Other

Withdrawal symptoms after abrupt cessation of chlordiazepoxide-clidinium may include dysphoria, insomnia, convulsions, tremor, abdominal and muscle cramps, vomiting, sweating, agitation, restlessness, and anxiety.

Other side effects have included increased and decreased libido, edema, and withdrawal symptoms. Rarely, syncope has been reported.

Ocular

Ocular side effects have included blurring of vision.

Genitourinary

Genitourinary side effects have included minor menstrual irregularities and urinary hesitancy.

Dermatologic

Dermatologic side effects have included skin eruptions.
