Side Effects of K-Phos Neutral - for the Consumer

K-Phos Neutral

All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. Check with your doctor if any of these most COMMON side effects persist or become bothersome when using K-Phos Neutral:

Diarrhea; nausea; stomach pain; vomiting.

Seek medical attention right away if any of these SEVERE side effects occur when using K-Phos Neutral:

Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue); bone or joint pain; confusion; decreased urination; dizziness; increased thirst; irregular heartbeat; muscle cramps; numbness or tingling around the lips; numbness, tingling, pain, or weakness in the hands or feet; seizures; severe or persistent diarrhea; shortness of breath; swelling of the hands, ankles, or feet; unusual tiredness; unusual weakness or heaviness of the legs; unusual weight gain.

Side Effects by Body System - for Healthcare Professionals

Gastrointestinal

There have been reports of a laxative effect occurring over the first few days of therapy. Lowering the dose usually reverses this effect; however, discontinuation of therapy is sometimes necessary.

Gastrointestinal side effects have included a laxative effect.

Gastrointestinal side effects associated with phosphate have included diarrhea, nausea, stomach pain, and vomiting.

Musculoskeletal

Musculoskeletal side effects associated with phosphate have included bone and joint pain, and osteomalacia.

Musculoskeletal side effects associated with potassium and/or sodium have included muscle cramps.

Nervous system

Nervous system side effects associated with potassium and/or sodium have included headache, dizziness, mental confusion, seizures, weakness or heaviness of legs, unusual tiredness or weakness, numbness, tingling, pain, weakness of hands or feet, and numbness or tingling around lips.

Cardiovascular

Cardiovascular side effects associated with potassium and/or sodium have included fast or irregular heartbeat, shortness of breath, troubled breathing, and swelling of feet or lower legs.

Other

Other side effects associated with potassium and/or sodium have included unusual weight gain and unusual thirst.

Renal

Renal side effects associated with potassium and/or sodium have included low urine output.
