Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction while taking fluoride (the active ingredient contained in Fluor-A-Day) hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Call your doctor if you have any of the following side effects:

  • discolored teeth;

  • weakened tooth enamel; or

  • any changes in the appearance of your teeth.

Less serious side effects of fluoride may include:

  • stomach upset;

  • headache; or

  • weakness.
