Serious side effects are not expected to occur with the use of emedastine ophthalmic (the active ingredient contained in Emadine)

Commonly, some eye burning, irritation, itching, dryness, other eye discomfort, or blurred vision may occur. Headache and a bad taste in the mouth have also been reported.

Ocular

Ocular side effects have included blurred vision, burning or stinging of the eye, corneal infiltrates, corneal staining, dry eye, foreign body sensation, hyperemia, ocular discomfort, tearing, and keratitis in less than 5% of patients.

Nervous system

Nervous system side effects have included headache (11%), asthenia (<5%), and abnormal dreams (<5%).

Respiratory

Respiratory side effects have included rhinitis (<5%) and sinusitis (<5%).

Other

Other side effects have included bad taste (<5%).

Dermatologic

Dermatologic side effects have included pruritus and dermatitis in less than 5% of patients.
