Applies to chlorpheniramine / hydrocodone: oral capsule extended release, oral liquid, oral suspension extended release
Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction while taking chlorpheniramine / hydrocodone: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:

weak or shallow breathing;

chest tightness;
-
painful urination;
-
urinating less than usual or not at all; or
-
confusion, hallucinations, or unusual behavior.
Less serious side effects of chlorpheniramine / hydrocodone may include:

dizziness, drowsiness, trouble concentrating;

mood changes, anxiety;
-
blurred vision;
-
constipation, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite;
-
dry mouth or throat;
-
sweating; or
-
mild itching or skin rash.

Nervous system
Nervous system side effects have included sedation, drowsiness, mental clouding, lethargy, impairment of mental performance, anxiety, fear, dysphoria, euphoria, dizziness, psychic dependence, and mood changes.
Dermatologic
Dermatologic side effects have included rash and pruritus.
Gastrointestinal
Gastrointestinal side effects have included nausea, vomiting, and constipation.
Genitourinary
Genitourinary side effects have included ureteral spasm, spasm of versicle sphincters, and urinary retention.
Respiratory
Respiratory side effects have included respiratory depression, dryness of the pharynx, and occasional tightness of the chest.
The long-acting hydrocodone-containing cough product (marketed as Tussionex Pennkinetic Extended-Release Suspension) may produce dose-related respiratory depression by acting directly on brain stem respiratory centers. Its use of been associated with fatal respiratory depression.
General
General side effects have included impairment of physical performance.
