For the Consumer

Applies to brompheniramine / dihydrocodeine / phenylephrine: oral liquid

Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction while taking brompheniramine / dihydrocodeine / phenylephrine: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Stop using this medication and call your doctor at once if you have any of these serious side effects:

  • fast or pounding heartbeat;

  • feeling like you might pass out;

  • weak or shallow breathing;

  • confusion, hallucinations;

  • severe dizziness, anxiety, restless feeling, or nervousness;

  • seizure (convulsions); or

  • painful or difficult urination.

Less serious side effects of brompheniramine / dihydrocodeine / phenylephrine may include:

  • dizziness, drowsiness, headache, tired feeling;

  • feeling excited or restless;

  • increased dreaming;

  • increased sweating or urination;

  • nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, loss of appetite;

  • dry mouth;

  • blurred vision, dry eyes; or

  • mild skin rash or itching.

Nervous system

Nervous system side effects have included light-headedness, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, fatigue, sedation, hallucinations, vivid dreams, severe narcosis, lassitude, giddiness, increased irritability or excitement.

Gastrointestinal

Gastrointestinal side effects have included nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, abdominal pain, dry mouth, indigestion, anorexia, and spasm of the biliary tract.

Respiratory

Respiratory side effects have included respiratory depression and cough suppression.

Dermatologic

Dermatologic side effects have included pruritis.

Ocular

Ocular side effects have included miosis and blurred vision.

Renal

Renal side effects have included granulomatous interstitial nephritis and acute renal failure.

Hypersensitivity

Hypersensitivity side effects have included anaphylactoid reactions.

Cardiovascular

Cardiovascular side effects have included orthostatic hypotension, cardiac palpitations, and flushing.
