For the Consumer
Applies to brompheniramine / codeine / phenylephrine: oral liquid
Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction while taking brompheniramine / codeine / phenylephrine: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Stop taking the medication and call your doctor at once if you have a serious side effect such as:

fast or pounding heartbeats;
-
confusion, hallucinations, unusual thoughts or behavior;
-
severe dizziness, anxiety, restless feeling, or nervousness;
-
urinating less than usual or not at all;
-
easy bruising or bleeding, unusual weakness, fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms; or
-
dangerously high blood pressure (severe headache, blurred vision, buzzing in your ears, anxiety, chest pain, shortness of breath, uneven heartbeats, seizure).
Less serious side effects of brompheniramine / codeine / phenylephrine may include:

dizziness, drowsiness, problems with memory or concentration;
-
dry mouth, nose, or throat, increased sweating or urination;
-
mild stomach pain, diarrhea or constipation;
-
sleep problems (insomnia);
-
blurred vision; or
-
flushing (warmth, redness, or tingly feeling).

Hypersensitivity
Hypersensitivity side effects have included anaphylactic shock, excessive perspiration, and chills.
Respiratory
Respiratory side effects have included thickening of bronchial secretions, tightness of chest, wheezing, nasal stuffiness, and dryness of mouth, nose and throat.
Cardiovascular
Cardiovascular side effects have included hypotension, palpitations, tachycardia, and extra systoles.
Nervous system
Nervous system side effects have included sedation, dizziness, sleepiness, disturbed coordination, fatigue, confusion, restlessness, excitation, nervousness, tremor, irritability, insomnia, euphoria, paresthesias, vertigo, hysteria, neuritis, tinnitus, acute labyrinthitis, and convulsions.
Hematologic
Hematologic side effects have included hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, and agranulocytosis.
Gastrointestinal
Gastrointestinal side effects have included epigastric distress, anorexia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation.
Genitourinary
Genitourinary side effects have included urinary frequency, difficult urination, urinary retention, and early menses.
Dermatologic
Dermatologic side effects have included urticaria, drug rash, photosensitivity, and pruritis.
Ocular
Ocular side effects have included blurred vision and diplopia.
