Applies to guaifenesin: oral capsule, oral capsule extended release, oral granule, oral liquid, oral solution, oral tablet, oral tablet extended release
Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction while taking guaifenesin (the active ingredient contained in Benylin E) hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Less serious side effects of guaifenesin may include:

dizziness or headache,

a rash, or
-
nausea, vomiting, or stomach upset.

General
Guaifenesin (the active ingredient contained in Benylin E) has been generally well tolerated.
Gastrointestinal
Gastrointestinal side effects have included stomach upset and vomiting with higher than recommended doses. Doses recommended for expectoration have rarely been associated with gastrointestinal upset.
Nervous system
Nervous system side effects have occasionally included dizziness and headache.
Dermatologic
Dermatologic side effects have included rare reports of rash.
Hypersensitivity
Hypersensitivity side effects have included a report of an anaphylactic reaction.
