Applies to papain / urea topical: topical foam, topical ointment, topical spray

Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Less serious side effects may be more likely to occur, such as mild stinging or burning of the skin where the medicine is applied.

Side effects other than those listed here may also occur. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome.

Local

Skin irritation is rarely caused by the exudate resulting from the enzymatic digestion. More frequent dressing changes may alleviate this discomfort until the exudate decreases.

Local side effects have rarely included a transient burning sensation and skin irritation.
