Terbinafine Pregnancy and Breast Feeding Warnings
Terbinafine is also known as: Lamisil, Lamisil Oral Granules
Overview
Do not use Terbinafine Granules if you are pregnant. Avoid becoming pregnant while you are taking it. If you think you may be pregnant, contact your doctor right away. Terbinafine Granules is found in breast milk. Do not breast-feed while taking Terbinafine Granules.
Terbinafine Pregnancy Warnings
Terbinafine has been assigned to pregnancy category B by the FDA. High dose reproduction studies in rats and rabbits have failed to reveal evidence of impaired fertility or fetotoxicity. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Terbinafine is only recommended for use during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk.
Terbinafine Lactation Warnings
Terbinafine is excreted into human milk following oral administration. The effects in the nursing infant are unknown. The manufacturer recommends that due to the potential for serious adverse reactions in nursing infants, a decision should be made to discontinue nursing or discontinue the drug, taking into account the importance of the drug to the mother.
The ratio of terbinafine in milk to plasma is 7:1.
