If you become pregnant, contact your doctor. You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of using Ketoconazole Gel while you are pregnant. It is not known if Ketoconazole Gel is found in breast milk after topical use. If you are or will be breast-feeding while you use Ketoconazole Gel, check with your doctor. Discuss any possible risks to your baby.
Ketoconazole topical Pregnancy Warnings
Topical ketoconazole has been assigned to pregnancy category C by the FDA. Animal studies with oral ketoconazole (10 times the human dose) have revealed evidence of teratogenicity. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Ketoconazole topical is only recommended for use during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk.
Ketoconazole topical Lactation Warnings
There are no data on the excretion of topical ketoconazole into human milk. Ketoconazole applied topically has not been detected in serum. The manufacturer recommends that a decision should be made to discontinue nursing or discontinue the drug, taking into account the importance of the drug to the mother.
