Guanadrel Pregnancy and Breastfeeding Warnings

Brand names: Hylorel

Guanadrel Pregnancy Warnings

Guanadrel has been assigned to pregnancy category B by the FDA. Animal studies have failed to reveal a statistically significant incidence of fetotoxicity or teratogenicity. Of note, however, a statistically insignificant incidence (5/80) of some congenital malformations (visceral, soft tissue, and skeletal abnormalities) and fetotoxicity were observed after doses of 30 to 100 mg/kg/day were given to rats and rabbits. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. Guanadrel should only be given during pregnancy when benefit outweighs risk.
