Ergonovine Pregnancy and Breast Feeding Warnings

Ergonovine is also known as: Ergotrate, Ergotrate Maleate

Overview

Do not use Ergonovine if you are pregnant. If you suspect that you could be pregnant, contact your doctor immediately. Ergonovine is excreted in breast milk. If you are or will be breast-feeding while you are using Ergonovine , check with your doctor or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.

Ergonovine Pregnancy Warnings

Ergonovine has been assigned to pregnancy category C by the FDA. Ergonovine is contraindicated during pregnancy because it may cause sustained, tetanic uterine contractions and resulting fetal compromise.

Ergonovine Lactation Warnings

Ergot alkaloids have been detected in the milk of lactating women, but apparently not in quantities sufficient to affect nursing infants.
