Bepotastine ophthalmic Pregnancy Warnings

Bepotastine ophthalmic has been assigned to pregnancy category C by the FDA. Animal studies using doses up to 15,000 times the maximum human ophthalmic dose have revealed evidence of teratogenicity. There are no controlled data in human pregnancies. Bepotastine ophthalmic is only recommended for use during pregnancy when there are no alternatives and benefit outweighs risk.

There are no data on the excretion of bepotastine ophthalmic into human milk. The manufacturer recommends that caution be used when administering bepotastine ophthalmic to nursing women.
