Black widow spider antivenin has been assigned to pregnancy category C by the FDA. Animal studies have not been reported. There are no controlled data in human pregnancy. The antivenin should only be given to a pregnant woman if clearly needed.
Antivenin (black widow spider) Breastfeeding Warnings
There are no data on the excretion of black widow spider antivenin into human milk. No reports of adverse effects have been found in the medical literature. The manufacturer recommends that caution be used when administering the antivenin to nursing women.
