Prevacid NapraPAC is prescribed to relieve arthritis symptoms in people who also have a history of stomach ulcers. It's used to treat pain caused by osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis (spinal arthritis).

Prevacid NapraPAC is a combination package containing two drugs: lansoprazole and naproxen. Lansoprazole is used to prevent or treat stomach ulcers, among other conditions. Naproxen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used to treat various types of pain. Using an NSAID for a long time may increase the risk of stomach ulcers. The medications in Prevacid NapraPAC were combined to help reduce this risk while also providing pain relief.

Most important fact about Prevacid NapraPAC

Other prescription or over-the-counter products may also contain naproxen, aspirin and other NSAIDs, or lansoprazole and other acid-reducing medication. Combining these other medicines with Prevacid NapraPAC may increase the risk of serious side effects. Do not take any other prescription or over-the-counter medicines—especially ones for a cold, pain, or heartburn—without first talking to your doctor.

How should you take Prevacid NapraPAC?

Prevacid NapraPAC contains four blister cards. Each blister card contains enough medication for 1 week (seven lansoprazole capsules and 14 naproxen tablets). Take one lansoprazole capsule and one naproxen tablet in the morning, before eating, with a glass of water. Take a second naproxen tablet in the evening with a glass of water.

Swallow the lansoprazole capsule whole. Do not chew or crush it.

  • If you miss a dose...
Take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the one you missed and go back to your regular schedule. Do not take two doses at once.
  • Storage instructions...
    Store at room temperature.

What side effects may occur?

Side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, tell your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine if it is safe to continue using Prevacid NapraPAC.

Abdominal pain, bruising, constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness, heartburn, headache, itching, nausea, ringing in the ear, skin eruptions, shortness of breath, swelling due to fluid retention

Why should Prevacid NapraPAC not be prescribed?

You should not use Prevacid NapraPAC if you have ever had an allergic reaction to lansoprazole or naproxen. If aspirin or other NSAIDs have ever given you asthma, nasal inflammation, or nasal polyps, you should not take Prevacid NapraPAC. Be sure to tell your doctor about any drug reactions you've had.

Special warnings about Prevacid NapraPAC

When taking NSAIDs such as naproxen, serious ulcers and internal bleeding can occur without warning. Ask your doctor about the warning signs of stomach problems, and what to do if they appear. Notify your doctor immediately if you have any stomach or abdominal pain. Your doctor may want to monitor you closely while you are being treated with Prevacid NapraPAC.

Naproxen can cause kidney or liver problems in some people. Use Prevacid NapraPAC with caution if you have kidney or liver disease.

The symptom relief provided by Prevacid NapraPAC could mask certain medical problems. By reducing fever and inflammation, naproxen may hide an underlying infection or inflammatory condition. Lansoprazole could hide an underlying stomach cancer by providing relief from stomach pain.

Naproxen may cause vision problems. Tell your doctor if you experience any change in your vision while taking Prevacid NapraPAC.

Naproxen may cause you to become drowsy or less alert. Avoid driving, operating dangerous machinery, or participating in any hazardous activity until you know how Prevacid NapraPAC affects you.
