Synovate Healthcare Boosts Global Oncology Portfolio Through Acquisition of Oncology Inc.

PRINCETON, N.J., Jan. 7, 2008 – Synovate Healthcare, the healthcare arm of international market research agency Synovate, has announced the acquisition of US market research specialists, Oncology Inc.

Oncology Inc. provides oncology treatment information from 100,000 US patients to pharmaceutical, biotechnology and financial companies. The firm’s offering includes a suite of proprietary research solutions that will now be incorporated into Synovate Healthcare’s global oncology portfolio.

Already its single largest therapy area, Synovate Healthcare’s oncology offering includes the Global Oncology Monitor (a monitor of oncology drug treatment across the US, Europe, Asia Pacific and Japan), along with vast capabilities in oncology custom market research. Synovate Healthcare can now offer clients the ability to purchase a customisable electronic ‘longitudinal’ patient diary study (revealing the life cycle of a patient’s treatment), additional physician panels, a PDA (handheld) platform and other custom research solutions. Oncology Inc. also provides Synovate Healthcare with additional patient samples in rare tumour types.

Synovate Global CEO Adrian Chedore commented, “This move demonstrates Synovate’s commitment to investing in our healthcare portfolio. With the acquisition of Oncology Inc., Synovate Healthcare can meet our clients’ needs through global coverage, proven oncology solutions, enhanced expertise and innovative new services.”

Added Synovate Healthcare CEO Michael Spedding, “This development is a clear step towards our strategic vision for this treatment area: to become the full-service oncology market research agency of choice. Combining the two offerings represents a marriage between time-tested expertise and exciting new approaches.”

John Fair, Oncology Inc’s Vice President of Sales and Client Service, said, “Oncology Inc.’s offering and culture are a natural fit with those of Synovate. Synovate clearly has the strategic vision to maximise the potential of this union for our clients, along with the global reach and resources to make it happen.”
