HYDERABAD: A painter on Thursday alleged that representatives of a prominent pharmaceutical firm in Miyapur tried to forcibly carry out clinical trials on him. In a bid to escape from their custody, he jumped from the company’s building and suffered injuries on his right leg.
On March 4, 32-year old Chandrasekhar from Chandanagar had volunteered for clinical trials and went to a pharmaceutical company in Miyapur. After he went there, he changed his mind and decided not to subject himself to the test as he had suffered health problems for undergoing clinical trials a year ago.
Fearing that if he was subjected to another round of trials, his health might deteriorate further, Chandrasekhar refused the company’s offer. However, the company’s representatives did not allow him to leave. "So with no other option to escape, I jumped from the second floor of the company’s building and suffered injuries on my right leg,’’ Chandrasekhar said.
Miyapur inspector A Sudheer Kumar said Chandrasekhar had not approached him with any complaint.
