20 November 2009 - Swiss drug maker Novartis AG (VTX: NOVN) said Friday it will raise the payments of its employees in Basel and in the plants in the Rheine valley by an average of 1.5% as of April 2010.

Well-performing employees can expect pay hikes of at least 0.5%, Novartis added.

The company said it will continue concentrating on a payment policy, oriented towards the market and personal performance and reflecting on the trading results.

The works council has agreed on the measure, while the trade union's general assembly has not responded to it yet.
