Aug. 18--John Lechleiter, chairman and CEO of Eli Lilly and Co., uses a prominent forum -- a full-page advertisement in today’s Indianapolis Star -- to cheer on colleagues and a city.
In the ad, he promises that the drug maker will "bring forth medical innovations that make a real difference" in patients’ lives, despite recent setbacks that include the loss of one of its potential treatments for Alzheimer’s Disease.
"This is certainly a time of great challenge for our company and our industry," he writes. "But it’s also a time of great opportunity."
"There will be times when we will suffer setbacks and experience failure. That is the nature of the work we undertake," he writes.
