Johnson & Johnson Unit Gets Bid for Breast-care Business

Ethicon Endo-Surgery, a unit of US consumer products giant Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ), said Tuesday it has received a takeover bid from Devicor Medical Products, a company of private equity firm GTCR Golder Rauner LLC, for its breast-cancer division for an undisclosed amount.

The unit, which has been studying the potential divestment of the division in a move to focus on areas with higher growth potential, has to take a decision by 15 June, when the acceptance period ends.

If the deal, which is subject to regulatory clearance, is accepted, it is expected to close by the third quarter of the year.
