Fresenius Medical Care and Amgen Establish a Joint Research Program in Europe
BAD HOMBURG, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb 1, 2007 - Fresenius Medical Care, the world's leading renal therapy company, today announced that it has agreed with Amgen Europe (Amgen) to establish a joint research project aimed at further improving treatment outcomes for kidney patients in Europe.In the scope of the joint research agreement, Fresenius Medical Care and Amgen will facilitate a working group of European scientific experts in the renal field. The working group will analyze practices in the treatment of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and will publish their findings for improved therapeutic options.
The working group will be led by renowned independent scientists in the field of nephrology, who will lead the analysis process. Both Amgen and Fresenius Medical Care will engage renowned consultants in the field of nephrology who will help lead the analysis process and develop additional research questions.
The focus of the first research efforts will be on anemia and bone mineral disease affecting patients with kidney failure.
