CEO Sees Belgo-Dutch Galapagos As Potential Takeover Target

Belgo-Dutch Galapagos’ (AMS:GLPGA, EBR:GLPG) CEO, Onno van de Stolpe, does not exclude a future acquisition of the biotech firm, he told yesterday news agency ANP-Reuters.
According to the CEO, there are no ongoing talks with pharmaceutical companies or other interested parties.
Galapagos’ current valuation is estimated at EUR200m (USD287.7m), Van de Stolpe was cited as saying.
The CEO underlined, however, that Galapagos’ main priority remains its profitability.
Galapagos is expected to post a maiden profit for 2011.
