Canon Communications to Produce Medical Manufacturing Event in Singapore
MEDTEC Southeast Asia will debut in 2010
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mar 23, 2010 - Canon Communications today announced that it will this year launch an exhibition and conference addressing the burgeoning market for medical device manufacturing in Asia. MEDTEC Southeast Asia will be held in Singapore 1-2 December 2010 and will offer design and manufacturing solutions to the growing medical device manufacturing community in the region.
As well as its fast growing domestic medical device manufacturing market – which includes supplying up to 80% of the world's catheters – southeast Asia is also attracting a high volume of inward investment from multi-national producers. Many European and U.S. companies have entered the region to set up manufacturing, regional headquarters, and research and development centers. Recently announced were Medtronic's new SGD 80 million (USD 58 million) headquarters – located in Changi South, Singapore – overseeing Asian, European and Latin American operations for the company, as well as an additional manufacturing facility to meet the expected demand for cardiac devices in Asia.
Examples of other well known multi-national device producers with established manufacturing operations in the region include Ansell, B. Braun, Becton Dickinson, Siemens Medical Instruments, Ambu, C. R. Bard, Rusch, Covidien, Baxter International, and Japan Medical Products.
“MEDTEC Southeast Asia will provide an annual showcase promoting excellence in medical device innovation and manufacturing in the Asian region while also providing our customers the perfect opportunity to enter into an exciting new market with high growth potential,” said Canon Communications CEO Charles McCurdy. “It perfectly complements Canon's existing event portfolio in the Asian region, including MEDTEC events in both Shanghai, China and Yokohama, Japan.”
