Pertyze

Pertyze is a common misspelling of Pertzye (pancrelipase delayed-release capsules).

What is Pertzye (Pertyze)?

Pertzye (Pertyze) is used to treat Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency (EPI) due to cystic fibrosis (CF) or other conditions.

Each Pertzye (Pertyze) delayed-release capsule contains the digestive enzymes lipase, protease and amylase. These digestive enzymes are used to improve food digestion in patients whose bodies do not produce enough pancreatic enzymes.

Pertzye (Pertyze) delayed-release capsules contain bicarbonate buffered enteric-coated microspheres which delay the release of the medicine until it reaches the lower part of the gastrointestinal tract and therefore lessons the inactivation of the enzymes in gastric acid.

Pertzye (Pertyze) is classified as a Pancreatic Enzyme Product (PEP). Other PEP's available in the United States include Creon, Zenpep, Pancreaze, Ultresa, and Viokace. These PEP's are not interchangeable at the pharmacy.

Pertzye (Pertyze) side effects include; irritation of the inside of your mouth, increase in blood uric acid levels causing swollen, painful joints, allergic reactions, diarrhea, upset stomach and cough.
