Avelox (Avalox) is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that kills sensitive bacteria by stopping the production of essential proteins needed by the bacteria to survive.

Avelox (Avalox) is a prescription antibiotic used to treat infections caused by certain bacteria. It kills bacteria that can cause sinusitis, pneumonia, and secondary infections in chronic bronchitis. It also fights skin infections caused by staph or strep. Like all antibiotics, Avelox (Avalox) works only against bacteria. It will not cure an infection caused by a virus.

Most people who take Avelox (Avalox) do not have major side effects. The most common side effects, which are usually mild, include nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, diarrhea, dizziness, and headache.
