just got induced this morning

I have been struggling with opiate addiction for the past 11 years and finally got the "go ahead" to start suboxone. I was on 120 mg. of morphine and went 24 hours off and drugs. I scored a 38 on the COWS and he started me at 4 Mg. waited 30 minutes with little results. He gave me another 4 mg. and i saw minimal results, then another 4 Mg. This helped me and relieved most of my symptoms. He sent me home with two 8 mg pills, on for tonight and one for the morning. i see the doctor to get my script tomorrow. The question I have for all you knowledgable souls is how long should i wait between doses? Should i take my second dose when i start feeling ?????? again or should i wait a certain amount of time. I also want to know if i am on too high a dose? is 16 mg too much suboxone? Thank you!

Im just a Beginner at this too, but it sounds to me as if you are inducing at a pretty quick rate, and kinda high Dose!! Please click on the link below and read what Robert_325 has to say about it and his "Method"....thats what Ive been doing and I feel GREAT! Dont Worry Man you can do it! I would really read this carefully though BEFORE you take anymore ok?

keep one thing in mind,the more you stsrt on the longer its gonna take to get off of. and if its for addiction take it all at once. if its pain management split your dose. I was on 400mg of kadian 200mg am then 200mg in the pm. I was put on too much sub in the start but I had to taper myself and then changed doctors. things are going much better now...pete ps welcome

wow...a 38 on the cows score.
a 26 has u feeling like u want to bang ur head on the wall...
but a 38 must have been horrible for u.
can't even imagine how that must have felt.
total respect for u doing that.

i'm new here myself and certainly no expert.

i do know a little bit about the subs and will try to help until
someone else comes along hopefully.

the doctor inducted u at a total of 12 mg on day one...
u shouldn't have even needed that 8 mg pill last night.
might not have even needed the pill this morning.
that is a really high dose of subs.
subs have a very long half life up to 72 hrs.

if u took another 8 mg of sub last night that would have
been a total of 20 mg yesterday...waaay too high!

u want to take the sub at the same time each day and the
same amount each time after ur stable on induction.

please post when u get back from the doctor today and let
us know whats going on and how much total per day will u
be taking?

someone should be here to help u that has more experience
than i do and if not i will help all that i can.

just know that u can do this!

Thank you everyone for your responses, i thought it was too high but i felt better and after the hell i had been through the night before i was open to any amount of help. The doctor told me to takt the 8mg last night and i really felt that i needed it, the leg pain started back up around 5 pm. I felt fine this morning but took 8mg of sub because the doctor told me to. He said to tell him how it went when we meet this afternoon. The doctor said sub had a half life of 8hrs. seems silly that ppl who take subs know more about them then the dr's. I will update after mt appt at 230. thank you so much it is so much help to know ppl care.

it kinda makes sense the ppl that actually take subs should
know as much if not more than the doctors do in some cases.

i'm NOT saying that i do cause i don't, but some/most of
the members here on this forum do know lots more than
most sub doctors do.

u can use this site to know and learn sooo much about subs.

it was strange of ur doctor to say that sub had a half life
of 8 hrs. it could be 8 hrs in some ppl i guess, but it's well
known here by the experts that sub has a half life UP TO
72 hrs. everyone is different and it would of course vary
among addicts to what the true half life is.

u mentioned u felt u needed the 8 mg of sub last night cause
of ur leg pain.
just so u know...subs are NOT a good med for pain at all.
it doesn't have many pain reducing qualities at all.
some i guess, but not very much.

give us the info when u get back from ur appt.
ur goal is to be on the lowest effective dose of sub u can be.
the lower the better.

Humjez Most docs induct at way too high a dosage on subs. The higher the dosage the longer you take it the longer it will take to get off the subs. My suggestion is to use Robert325 method this works and has worked for any number of people on this forum. And welcome to the forum! There are otheers here that know more than me on the subs and I am sure one will be along shortly 16 mg is a lot of sub though check out Roberts method Hang tight man we are here Dog

PS the 1/2 life is 72 hrs NOT 8
