The pills you found were almost certainly methadone, 10mg. You can find more information about that drug by looking up the name on this site. Methadone is used to treat moderate to severe pain, and is also used as an alternative to pure opiates for recovering addicts. It has a high potential for abuse.

The piece of paper reading "oxy hcl er 40 mil" almost certainly stands for oxycodone hydrocloride extended release 40 milligrams. That being the technical name for oxycontin 40mg. Looks like someone is drawing up a shopping list?

Methadone is a big bad no-no and oxycontin is taking a turn for the worse from there. Recent studies suggest that oxycodone has a higher liability for addiction than most any opioiod. It is a pure mu receptor agonist, meaning it is in a way, a perfect drug.

    Good luck mom.
