Default roxicet?

a client of mine has been taking percocet 10mg for past 2 years for chronic pain. Her MD has switched her to Drug Name
Roxicet
Strength(s)
325 mg-5 mg
Imprint
54 543

I am a crisis case manager. My concern is that my clients MD is not taking into consideration her problems with addiction? Is the Roxicet a stronger form or a weaker form of the Percocet 10mg? Or how do these compare? I am not super familar with Roxicet

well, it is the same active ingredients in both drugs: acetaminophen/oxycodone

your patient was previously taking 10mg of oxycodone (in the percocet) and is now taking 5mg of oxycodone in the roxicet 325/5. so her doctor has cut her amount of the addictive substance oxycodone in half.

incognito, cat's - please correct me if i am wrong on this one.

Nope, you are absolutely correct.

Just to add a little more, Roxicet is a proprietary name for Oxycodone/APAP combo. Percocet is also a proprietary name for Oxycodone combo, just mfg by a different company.

You patient is now taking 5mg less, or half, the Oxycodone she was taking.
