Default Purple pill comotose side effects

My better half was on a medication about 11 years ago. the dr who prescribed it to him was a quack psychologist
The pill was capsule shaped but it was flat, and purple. it may have been a psychotic type drug, or possible a muscle relaxant, but the reason it was prescribed was for sleep. However it caused him to become comatose. He said he felt like he was in a tunnel and couldn't get out of it. The side effects were similar to large doses of Restoril
When my sister and I found him, he was on his living room floor because he couldn't get up, and was all but dead. He was only taking them 2 times a day.
I have searched the pill identifier however it isn't there as far as I can tell.
Thank you in advance for your help.

There's lots of oval purple pills, we have to have an imprint, there's no point in a guessing game.
