Default Oxycontin 160mg and Mfr

Do they still make Oxycontin 160mg tabs? I've heard they quit making them. Also are there any other pharmaceutical manufacturers that make Oxycodone ER other then Purdue-Frederick, Endo and Teva? In my area (Northern California Central Valley)the only generic I can find anymore is Teva. The Endos were much more like P-F, but they all do seem to work the same.

No, the FDA made them stop making the Oxycontin 160mgs, in name brand and generics, because of all the overdose deaths and medical emergencies that were occuring.

The list of US manufacturers that I found include:

Amide Pharmaceuticals -- Immediate Release Only

Endo -- Controlled Release Only

Ethex -- Immediate Release Only

Impax -- Controlled Release Only

Mallinckrodt -- Immediate Release Only

Purdue -- Both forms

Teva -- Controlled Release Only

Watson -- Controlled Release Only

Xanodyne -- Immediate Release Only

Roxane (Boehringer) -- Immediate Release

PF -- Instant Release

BMS -- Instant Release

Global -- Instant Release

PharmaFab -- Instant Release

Ivax -- Controlled Release

Dava -- Extended Release

So there are only a few that make the generic for Oxycontin.

OK, what does all that mean, immediate release, controlled , instant etc. I thought all oxy's were controlled released unles chewed. Now I find a different consistance in the generics at least
thanks for your info...

I think Zippysgoddess gave me info for all Mfr. that make Oxycodone, there is Oxycodone IR (instant release) such as Percocet, Percodan, etc. and Oxycodone ER (extended release) such as Oxycontin.
Instant release and Immediate Release both mean the same thing.
Right Zippy?

Yes, instant and immediate release are the same thing, I gave you an entire list for reference purposes. However, the instant release isn't just available in Percocet and such, it is available as a tablet or capsule of just Oxycodone by itself, with no other ingredients like Acetaminophen or anything.

The major difference is the instant/immediate release is just that, the entire dosage is release into your body as soon as you start to digest the pill. The controlled release is slowly released over a 12 hour period.
