No luck so far...

but could the |><| possibly read as 1 1 7 1...?

(Imagine a clock face - the first 1 is angled at 8 o'clock, the second 1 is angled at 11 o'clock, the 7 is angled at 1 o'clock and the final 1 is angled at 4 o'clock??)

Its a small pill... one side has a clearly defined 75
the other has what looks like two triangles pointing
at each other.

Not sure exactly, but don't think you found anything too interesting...probably a tricyclic antidepressant. If you're really interested, it may be a barbiturate, but I would look into it very carefully before coming to that conclusion.
