I'm looking for the name of a pill that has duel usages. It helps fight obesity and it helps smokers quit smoking. I am also looking to find out side effects.

There is a drug called Acomplia (rimonabant) which was featured in the news earlier this year. It is still in clinical trials

It is to help loose weight and stop smoking. It's primary reason is to stop smoking. They added an appetite supresant (sp) to curb the food craving symptoms that come with nicotine withdrawl. Hense, the loss of weight. I tried it for both. It made me feel very sick to my stomach. :P[xx(]

This should be a real winner if it makes it through trials.

To the other posters re Wellbutrin (bupropion). It's an antidepressant also marketed as Zyban. Zyban is the same thing exactly, but most insurance companies don't pay for it since it's a lifestyle drug. So if you have insurance, ask for Wellbutrin.

Wellbutrin/Zyban is not without risks - seizures are one major impediment. And that's a scary risk. [:0]
