white, round pill. A283 on 1 side and blank on other. Sister taking it, says it is methadone 300mg. Did not think methadone was prescribed in doses that large. Can someone help? Thanks!

I found in another forum the following reply to a query regarding a small white tablet inscribed with "A 283":

The "A" marking is definitely used by Able Laboratories (www.ablelabs.com). If the above info is correct, the tablet could be Able's generic Lithium Carbonate 300 mg Extended Release Tablets (therapeutically equivalent to branded Lithobid 300 mg Slow-Release Tablets). If so, it's an antimanic agent, used to treat manic depression. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by a doctor.
