Soma is a muscle relaxer. Valium is a benzo (tranquilizer). No way they are the same thing. I guess you could say that the euphoric effects of both medications might have some similarities but they are two entirely different drugs. Good luck.

No, they are not the same. They both will make you sleepy. However, valium is for anxiety, solely. I'm sure there are some docs out there that prescribe it to help people sleep. Soma's are muscle relaxers, and they will make your muscles relax and make you sleepy. If I were you, I would not take them at the same time until you are at home and see how you are going to react to them. You could just not take the valium unless you are feeling a panic attack coming on. Then you won't have to worry about being too sleepy.

they are two different classes of drugs but valium is also used to relax muscles..I get Valium also for that reason...I am alergic to Soma Flexeril and 3 other regular muscle relaxers..Valium is a great muscle relaxer and is also prescribed for other things beside nerves......talk with your doctor about this...you may be able to discard the soma.......also if your seeing 2 seperate docs ..make sure vthey both know all the meds you take....and I always check with my pharmacist to insure one wont interfear with the other,,,,sometimes docs prescribe meds not thinking about other meds you are on..specialy if they are 2 seperate docs you see...me I see a pain specialist and a heart doc....both know each other and both know all the meds I take.......its best to ask and be safe....
