Default Question about prescription call-in

HI-

I had a question about when a Dr. phones in a prescription to the pharmacy and doesn't talk to anybody, but leaves a recorded message. Does the pharmacy delete these messages or are they stored away somewhere?

The Federal Government regulates pharmacies, as well as State Governments. Each pharmacy further regulates through their own policies. Normally the most restrictive guidelines apply. My suggestion would be to ask the pharmacy. If they don't, can't, won't answer you then you could always try searching for your state guidelines, then the federal. I would assume that the pharmacy must keep a record of all prescriptions filled in order to keep their license, not to mention covering themselves against lawsuits for prescription mix ups (which are more common than not). Hope this was a help even though it's not the definitive answer you are looking for.
