Default is it ok to request different brands of same scrip

i was wondering,if someone has been on the same pain med for years, and one time they come in to get there new script filled, and they are in pain. they are not sure if they got used to the particular brand, or maybe they got a bad batch, but wanted to know if it was ok to try a different brand this time to see. are you alloud to do that? or is that frowned apon.it would be a shame for the person to switch meds entirerly, if it was just a bad batch.

It's okay, you might say, "can you request that name brand only be filled, I'd like to see if it works better" to your doctor, or have your Rx filled at a dif pharmacy, chances are you'll get a different generic.
