Questions like these are very difficult to pin down because every doctor is going to have his own reason. One thing could simply be that a drug rep came in and advertised their drug well so he uses it now. Or a doctor may think a certain name brand only medication has less side effects and better effectiveness than another drug that has a generic. Those are probably two biggest reasons I can think of off top of my head.
