In most cases a drug is a drug. The company that invents a drug has the legal right to produce that drug and market it exclusively. Then when the patent runs out other drug companies can begin producing the generic. Companies are protected to help offset the costs of R&D. They get to rape us for the medications until they are in the black basically. That is a hell of a deal. No other industry has that protection. Let's hear if for our drug companies, I just love them. The generics are the same drug basically. Some people for whatever reason do better with the formulary drug than the generic, but that is the exception to the rule. I can't tell you about the new lamictal generic. Haven't ever used it. God bless.
