Default Doribax - 250mg dose preperation

As a newer technician (certified) I would like to know the reasoning behind preparing Doribax for infusion at the 250 mg dosage. Basically you reconstitute the 500mg vial with 10ml Sterile Water for injection, add to a 100 ml infusion bag of NaCl, then withdraw 55ml of the resulant solution. I did follow these instructions, but I will have questions as to why I did not just add half of the amount in the vial to each infusion bag.

I appreciate your input. M Brown.
