Question coil for 10 years

i have had a coil in for ten years, for the past 2 years i have been having infections as soon as i finish antibiotics the infection starts again.
I asked if it had anything to do with my coil which he did'nt say yes or no.
I am a little worried as i think my coil as been in too long and should of been changed after 4 years. can any one help

Hi venus69

In the United States, there are two types of IUDs available: the Mirena which continuously releases hormones for up to five years, and the ParaGard Copper T 380A IUD which contains copper and can be worn for up to 12 years. IUD's are effective as soon as they are inserted.

But if you are having infections,I would just tell him you want it changed.
Don't even give him an OPTION...
