Soo ive been being prescribed 80mg
Oxycontin for about a year now and unfortunately the time that its effective is actually decreasing.... I mean it does help alot with my pain, however it seems as if its not lasting as long as it used to........ My doctor didnt JUST put me on 80s either..... started with Perc 10s, then oxy 20s with roxy 15s for breakthrough pain...... then upped to 40s also with the 15s...... and then 6 months into the time spent with these pills, ive been upped to 80s twice a day and upped to roxy 30s every 8 hours...
Finally my current monthly meds consist of Oxycontin 80mg 3 times a day and Roxicodone 30mg every 6 hours (QID)...
Im kinda worried that the oxycontin is losing the time that its effective...
what i wanted to know was this...... It says anywhere that i have read that oxycontin is an extended release drug which is active for 8-12 hours...... That being said, it can only be written for Q8H.. or Q12hr i would think righ??
Is there any laws saying what you can and cant be giving as far as dosewise??
For instance.... Has anyone every filled up a script for Oxycontins taken every 6 hours writen 1tab po Q6H?????
Or..... can the doctor ever write out... 2 tabs at once???? for instance... 2 tabs po Q8H?? basically my current dosage x 2... however i think thats too much for me.... sooo well stick to the Q6H.... is that possible with this drug???? I know you can with the roxicodone being that its an instant release drug which is effective for 4-6 hours... but whaTS your take on the oxycontin??? can it be taken every 6 hours??
thanks.. please respond asap for im going to the doctor right after this weekend..
thanks
Joe
