My mother has lost her ability to eat solid foods, walk, turn over by herself, or even talk clearly. She has been in the hospital twice and the doctors have ruled out everything except the side effects of Haldol.

She was given the first dose of Haldol on January 20th, 2009. By February 20th, 2009 she was unable to do any of the above things.

Does anyone know how long the side effects for Haldol last after the last dose has been taken? Will any medicine help to raise the dopomine levels which I think is what is lost when a person is taking Haldol. She was not put on Cogentin at any point so far.

I heard that Benadyl would counteract the effects of Haldol? Is this true?
