Are there any Fentanyl sufferers out there?
Are there any Fentanyl sufferers out there?
I am a 60 YO man fixin to deal with drug withdrawals for the first time. I've been on Fentanyl for about 7-8 months and I'm up to 100mcg/day. I've decided to risk losing my job and just take the time off that I need to deal with this. I'm too sick on drugs to work anyway. I used fentanyl for a really painful back with sciatica. I've had a back operation and have no pain now, save for a sore lower back, 6 weeks post-surgery, but as fast as I've been healing, I expect the soreness to leave eventually. I don't have to take any pills any more for "break-thru" pain.
I am in day three. l have been slowly cutting my dosage in half by lowering it 50mcg per day. I was taking 300mcg every three days, and right now I am at 200mcg every three days. So far I feel fine. I will lower it another 50mcg in about three more hours, and I expect to start feeling sick after this next dosage reduction.
Are there any more fentanyl users out there? All I read about is pill problems and detoxing from them. Fentanyl is ten times worse than pills - it's worse than heroin, from what I've heard and read. Thanx! - Vic
Well I dropped another 50mcg 3 hrs. ago and I still feel ok so far. I sure thought I would be really sick by now. Don't understand it, but I'm sure grateful for the break going into this. Vic
Well I'm six days into this I'm still feeling no pain. I'm down from 300mcg to 100mcg with no ill effects. I still have no appetite, but I'm not too concerned about that right now. I have been dropping my dosage every night at 6 PM by 50mcg increments. Tonight I'll jump down to 50mcg and things could lively after that. I'll keep y'all posted in case anyone out there is interested. Oh, I might add that I have been praying a lot for God's strength to help me deal with the withdrawals. Just thought I'd throw that in, for whatever it's worth.
After hearing what my neighbor went through, I'm more than a little intimidated by the thought of having to endure that myself. He jumped off from 100mcg every 3 days to nothin... cold turkey! lol The guy has some stones on him, I'll give him that! He went through absolute HELL for three solid weeks with only a few norcos and klonopins for comfort, then felt like he just had a case of flu for the fourth week. He shared with me that he was having suicidal thoughts, and he's a solid, well grounded pharmacist, not given to those kinds of feelings.
Anyway, more later... - Vic
7 days now and no more than an occssional burst of RLS or nasea/vomiting. I can't believe it!! lol God is certainly performing a miracle for me, right when I need it the most. I am in AA and have been sober off alcohol for over 30 yrs, except for an incident when my fiance died suddenly in 2000, and I stayed drunk for 2 weeks. I quickly came to my senses and haven't touched it since. I still go to AA meetings and always will. It's a life saving, family saving and sanity saving program that I dearly love. I still don't know when I'm suppposed to start getting sick.Every time I start sweating I think "UH-OH, here we go!" I soon return to feeling fine again. It's the damndest thing! lol Since I started this detox seven days ago, Ive dropped my daily fentanyl dosage from 300mcg to 50mcg. Now I will see how far I can make em strength. The manufacturer claims consistent dosage admimistration for at least 72 hrs. If I can make a 50mcg patch last 3 days I w Pon't have far to go. - Vic

You're doing just great right now and every day gets better and better for you. I am going to give you the link to the Thomas Recipe at the bottom of this post. It has lots of vitamins and supplements to help with withdrawal symptoms. I would suggest you stay away from the Benzo's that are suggested in the recipe until you speak with a doctor first. Lots of people here use it and report very good results using it.
I give you huge kudo's for being able to taper your dose down to where it is now. That is amazing really! Lots of people including myself just don't have the willpower to taper. Always want to gobble up what I have left. I would even put 2 or 3 -100 mcg patches on at the same time! Crazy I know. But read the recipe and maybe it will help you're symptoms a bit. And keep posting as others should see it and stop by with more suggestions for you.
Again welcome and it is very nice to meet you. Take care of yourself and have a great day.

vic... i know someone who has gotten off fentanyl patches. im gonna message her and get her to check ya out ok. she is still clean today, and around your age too... her name is shadow and i know she had limited internet for a few days but i will msg her and tell her bout you ok...
hang in there in the mean time...
I jumped off 200mcg patches and am clean a year and a half now.
You haven't even begun to suffer through your real de-tox.
Those take forever to leave your system, half life upon half life.......
I'm going to be very frank here,
unless you have a good year to two years to recover from detoxing cold turkey off these,
you need to go the sub route, straight up.
I'm now clean a year and a half and just now coming all the way back.
I'm going to message Cheeky back and have her come back to you......
In NO way can I encourage you to go cold turkey off 300mcgs of that stuff........
Wow! Looks like I got a few replies while I was gone! lol Thanx everyone! After three days on one 50mcg patch I just jumped down again to a 25mcg patch, and I have a few 12mcg patches to try as soon as I am convinced that I can do fine on a 50. After the 12's of course, the next step is nothing at all. That is the step I fear most because it's the most difficult, according to legend. But hey, so far this has been a breeze and I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop. lol l have some klonopins on hand because I expected to be climbing the walls with anxiety by now, but it hasn't happened, praise God, so I haven't been taking the klonopins much, just a couple of times. I also have some Roxicodone 15mg for post-op or withdrawal pain but again, I haven't needed them much either, so I've been taking a couple in the evening when my back gets sore from the day. I think if I'm still fine 48 hrs. from now, I might just go ahead and jump down to the 12's. It's very hard not to get too impatient and decrease the dosage too soon and trigger withdrawal symptoms. I'd sure hate to do that. I'll keep y'all posted, and thanks for the replies! -Vic
Update: I did decrease my fentanyl dosage, first to 25mcg and later on to the 12mcg. I stayed on the 12mcg for about 50 hrs. without any problems and then removed it this morning at 9AM. I've been fentanyl free for 5.5 hrs now. My back hurts more now without the fentanyl, so I got some more roxicodone 15mg for
Update: I worked my way down to the 12mcg and this morning at 9 AM I discontined the fentanyl altogether. I have been fentanyl free for six hours now with no complications thus far. I'm taking roxicodones for pain, and klonopins for anxiety. Still no problems due to withdrawal symptoms, I can't believe it! I've also been taking Withdrawal Ease. It is advertised all over this web site and others. I don't know if it really helps or not, It's kinda hard to say. Something is certainly helping, that's for sure! lol More later - Vic
