Xanax Dependence Questions

Hi all,

I asked this in the Benzo section but a lovely forum member Rose said I would get better feedback here

I understand everyone has different brain chemistry. But those who have experienced and used Benzos on and off for years. Could you please answer a few questions?

How long would it take to develope a physical dependence if you were taking 2mg of Xanax a day?

If you take off days inbetween (1-3) would this help lower the chances in developing a physical dependence?

I appreciate any insight. You'r help is always appreciated.

PS I will be using the Xanax for the Thomas Recipe so will not be taking 2mg at a time.

I think each person is different but I have never had a problem with xanax but have taken them off and on for years. I took .5 mg at night and stopped and no problems. I used them for sleep that is it. I would suggest only taking a very small amount. If you don't normally take them, .5 or even .25 mg could be enough. Go small you would be surprised. Just be very careful and be on them as little as you can! I am now off of Subs for over 3 weeks and still get anxious and feel I need a little piece of one and don't. If you can, try to work your way through the anxiety, it passes fast and if you are coming off your DOC, then you are used to taking something when you feel anything and that is what we need to get used to, feelings, good and bad!! Thanks for the replay Dennab. I have found using .5 does nothing in terms of my anxiety nor do I have trouble sleeping so I would not be using it as a sleeping aid, but strictly for anxiety. Also please note, I would not be taking 2mg at a time. Any other comments about the questions asked above would be greatly appreciated.

The Thomas Recipe doesn't call for xanax, it suggests valium or a longer acting benzo, even klonopin would work. If you use xanax strictly for the Thomas Recipe you won't become addicted, but it's such a fast acting benzo and lasts such a short time that is why it's not the benzo of choice in the protocol. And it's only suggested that you use any benzo for a week or so in the Thomas Recipe. Remember that! God bless.
