Default Xanax addiction help please.

I have been taking Xanax daily for the past five years. Its ruining my life as depression is moderate to severe. I saw a addiction specialist this am and he want me in a program Detox for 7-10 days and then into an inpatient facility. I take 6-8mg per day and dont feel affects at all. I know about the weening and have tried several times and relapsed every time. I have no insuarance and I really want to kick so I can get on with a normal life. Anyone with any info would be greatly appreciated. The Dr. wants me in a 4-6 week program is this for my good or are they just wanting my money?

Benzodiazepine addiction is terrible and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. There is an exellent site at http://benzoisland.proboards56.com .These people are all benzo addicts and are more than willing help and support you as you wean down. They follow the guide lines set down by Dr. Ashton from The Ashton Manual.I suggest you read that first and then begin posting. You don't have to go this alone and these people really care.Good luck and whatever you do don't go cold turkey as it can be fatal......Dave
