    Default Why Not...

Hey if digging a hole and filling it with water is the closest thing to the beach for you then go for it LOL LOL
Day 6 yep that is usually the tail end of the worst of it. I am glad to hear things are clearing up for you when I came out of that haze it was great to see things the way they are for a change. You body and wallet will thank you for the change. You will have some occasional mental cravings for a while to come it is normal I still get them months later. The big thing is DONT GIVE IN !!
I too am looking forward to my vacation in 3 weeks. We have a huge family gathering (25 or more people) and we go camping at New Brighton Beach state park near Santa Cruz CA. I am looking forward to the fun in the sun on the Pacific Coast.
Keep us posted on your recovery I am very pleased you are almost there.

...Jenny from the block! Nice to hear from you too! You know me and my girl split up and things a horrible! HAHA I have to be honest. I have been here before. My life is one big pattern I swear! I reel em in Jenny and then things get to comfortable and things just start falling apart. I was very close to hitting a meeting last night. And im getting there. Its a matter of time. This path im on right now leads to no where. I know that. I will make it I know it. Sooner or later. Its really a shame that I do this to my body. How about I commit to this again in two weeks from today and make it stick? That would be a great time. Will you be around?

    Ryan,
You bet I will be around. Not here as often but check in from time to time. You got me through my tough times and I will definately be there for you. Pick a date and I will be on the computer on this site every day. You can do it Ryan. You know what you are in for so just suck it up and do it. The spiral and the cycle will be there forever if you don't stop it. Let's do this! I will be here all the way.

    Melinda,
I'm ready to help Ryan get started any time. As long as he pickes a date whether it's today, 2 weeks, or a month I'm in! Time for him to finish this for good. He is tougher than he thinks he is. I have no doubt he can do this.

Hi Brian .... sounds like you are getting well my friend! I will always remember my clean date (that's just me) but it sounds like you are doing outstanding. Family is so much more fun when we are clean.

Proud of you for the cigarettes dude! That is very cool. I hate those things. I quit smoking for over a year (four years one time) seven different times and I always went back. But this time it's been over 11 years so I think I'm done. That was one of my major accomplishments in life. I hate cigarettes! Can't believe I did that for so many years.

Hang in there buddy. This is when the real challenge begins. Getting clean is relatively simple. You just accumulate some days without using. Now you get to start working on staying clean. Temptation will return, you'll have cravings, etc. It's inevitable. This is a good time to consider getting involved in recovery.

Stay focused on what is important, be prepared when temptation hits. Remember that all things are possible through Christ including staying off these pills. I couldn't do it any other way after using for 35 years. He saved me in many ways! God bless.

    Hi Robert .
Thanks Man yes I still know my clean date but just not keeping track anymore .
And for sure Family is so much more fun and better without Drugs!
Funny thing it's like we went to war at the beach every last one of us cut our feet up on them zebra mussels little snail like things . and most of us got a bad case of sunburn LOL it was a blast .

I do agree with you that a few days /weeks clean is just the 1st step
and Ive already tuned my mind to think I might Die if i ever go back to vics
plus my will power is so powerful I really do think I'm good.

Rob I am so glad to hear about you finding the lord and how he saved you he is great in every way possible . I do come from a religious background so i know there is nothing he cant do .

thanks about the stop smoking " ciggs" reply . 3 days 1 hr clean for them cancer sticks 13 yrs of inhaling all them toxic poisons in my lungs
this is by far the hardest thing Ive had to kick. but once again my will power and concern wont have me looking back thank GOD.

    Thanks Again
    IN JESUS NAME

    GOD BLESS

Is it weird that we go to the internet to vent because our spouses or friends would never understand?

Very good an congrads on your 1st day hope you get some sleep and feel better soon . I kept my mind so busy at times i was doing like 3 things at once . I really think 75% of w/d is a total mind thing . you will do great .

and yes it is totally crazy how easy it is to find people to vent to and tell your story to on the net . but it's real because other people are going through the same things at the same time WOW ..
    hope u feel better soon

    Default Nothing But Sun

    LOL @ General...I wish !!

You are beating pills and smokes dont even worry about the soda that is the least of your worries.
Yep sunglasses do help but somehow they still know you are looking and then they ask you something like "you think she is pretty?" and of course you answer not as pretty as you....and they dont buy it.
A guy can never win...but we try.
Yep, 11 more days and then it is a week of fun and sun in Santa Cruz I cant wait and unlike last years trip it will be pill free !!

I am glad to see you are recovering so well just keep it up !!

Brian G, You are currently my idol. I am also quitting this horrible addiction and have a great mindstate about it because of you. I am headed to get the immodium and vitamins now, and tomorrow will be day 1. Thanks so much for posting your experience.

Hey Melinda, Thanks. I just got home with the Immodium, Centrum Vitamins, Melatonin (for help sleeping), and Hylands Nerve Tonic as a replacement for Valium/Xanax. I don't want to use other prescription drugs for this. And I must say, I took one of the Nerve Tonic caplets (Don't even wanna type the "P" word right now) an hour ago and my anxiety is way down.

And btw, My name is Pete.

Wow, so its time for my first take of the day. I just woke up, and like people roll out of bed wanting a cigerrate, All I want is a "you know what". I can do this though, The way I see it, I have 6 extra dollars in my pocket right now. And will have 6 extra dollars in my pocket 4 more times today.

Melinda, I started taking about 1 year and a half ago. Funny thing is, is I have always been scared of drugs. Said I would never do them.

Well I work contruction, so of course anything you want is readily available. That just how it is out there. And I mean ANYTHING. For years I steered clear of the people that sell them, and just did my job everyday drug free. Of course I had a beer or 2 at night, but who doesn't?

One day I had an excruciating headache, I mean severe. I didn't have any Tylenol so I asked some coworkers for some. They didn't either, But what one did have was a blue Vicodin. I was scared to take it, and said no. Well the guy kept on about how it would help and it had Tylenol in it, So I finally said ok, Give me half. About 30 minutes later I felt great, So I got the other half. Then I started taking 1 in the morning just to feel good, then I started wanting to feel good when I got home so I'd take another, until it got to the point where I just wanted to feel good all day long. From the time I'd wake up until the time I'd go to sleep.

I am tired of living that life. Its like I'm walking around in a fog, watching everyone else live.

    Hi Pete
That is just the way I started,I think that is how all of us got started...
When your mind starts telling you things like oh just one wont hurt, get mad at it and say HE!! no I don't want them any more...I will be a fight for a couple days but you'll win ...I was addicted pretty bad I was spending about 2 grand a month plus what I got from my doc...so it only gets worse...
So hang in there my friend,It will get better...

7:10 my time. Been about 27 hours since my last take. Doing pretty well. Physically I don't feel "too" bad, I mean I'm aching and feel a little out of it, but manageable.

Mentally though, Oh my. I want one so bad I can taste it. But I just keep telling myself NO. I am going to beat this no matter what it takes. I want my life back and Im going to get it!

Dread work 2morro. Don't know how I'm going to make it through the work day, But I will!

    Hi Pete

I had to work thru my w/d also just make sure you bring the imodium ...
You have done the hardest part already YOU QUIT......just give it some time and it will be over and you can put it behind you...

Over talk the negative thoughts just keep fireing back at it...sounds crazy but stand up and do the hulk move and say I WILL WIN....
Positive thoughts have great power to win this battle...

    your doing great !!!

Bout to try and sleep. I have some Melatonin, don't know if it works good or not, but I'm gonna try it. I'm tired, but not sleepy. I would be at this time if I was still using, but I guess the W/D are keeping me wide awake. I'll update again 2morro, and thanks so much for the talks.
