Default Vicodin abuse...

Hi there!

I have a question that I have not seen addressed on here, so would like to ask it. Thanks in advance for any answers!

I've had an increasing problem with vicodin, prescribed for back pain. Long story short, I was up to between 4-8 pills a day for the last 6 months or so...with a few days off in between. Minor discomfort on those days...

The last couple of weeks or so I have found myself feeling physically ill after taking the vicodin. Headache, aches and pains in my neck and body. Just an overall feeling of unwell after taking them. This caused me to try to just stop, cold turkey, to see if it was the pills or something else.

Of course now, the last few days, the withdrawal has been unpleasant. The symptoms I had before I stopped taking them exacerbated and continued, tapering in the 4th day. Not totally gone, but getting better. So, then like an idiot today I take 2 5/500's.

Within 30 mins the headache was back and the pains in my body returned...I feel sick again.

Is it possible for ones body to just say..ENOUGH!!!! and rebel? Plus, when I used to take them I would get the all too familiar feelings of well being. Now, nothing. Just feel icky...with or without them.

Anyone have any feedback on this?

Hi! I know what you're talking about, but in a bit of a different way. I have days where I take my vicodin and just feel so completely worn down, like I've been ridden hard and put back in the barn wet...like I just can't stand the thought of taking another one because they exhaust me so. But then other times, it's just the best pick me up in the world....
...sigh....

I hear ya. Gone are the days where just two 5/500's made for a happy evening, and the world was my oyster...

Now...ugh. I know it's time to make some changes and that is so scary to me. I just want to go back in time to before it got to be too much.

Good luck to you!

Default Vicodins ease stress

I have been prescribed vicodins for more than a year. I take (1) 500/5 in the morning and in the evening. I have become dependent on the pills to elleviate stress although I don't feel euphoric anymore because I have a high tolerance to pain medication. If they make you sick, stop taking them and you will detoxify in a week. Good luck.....Dennis

It seems to me that if I don't take my vicodine, I just hurt all through the day. However, I have been taking them for about a year now for knee pain, gout, and athrithis. I think my body has adjusted to them and they aren't any good anymore. I don't know whether to ask for something stronger, or just stop and deal with the pain.
