    Default ultram?

my doc put me on ultram for the pain i'm having from withdrawing from methadone. Do I have to worry about getting addicted to these too? He says no. Can someone help me?

    Thumbs down

Your DR needs to read up! These are addicting. I know first hand. I was told when I quit taking Norco but still needed pain relief that these weren't addicting. Not only did I get addicted it made me have more seizures. The withdrawls from this are horrible. Its like opiate withdrawl but you feel more dizzy and the anxiety is worse. As far as relieving pain its kinda a coin toss. Some ppl swear by them and others say don't work at all. So please be careful. I don't want you to go through what I did. Take care.

Thank you for letting me know about the ultram, I suspected what you said was true I'll have to be very careful with them, because as you know I'm still kicking the methadone and I swear to God I don't want to go through that hell again. By the way 22 days now! ok thanks alot.

i'm at 21 days so i'm right behind you!
to my knowledge no one has mentioned this but in addtion to all the other advice on w/d and detoxing the use of a steam room and infra-red sauna works wonders if you have access to either. sweating the toxins out enhances the overall feeling of well being and increases the recovery process

    Default ultram

I've been on Ultram for 11 years and stopped cold turkey with NO ill effects during two pregnancies I believe any addictions you hear about are psychological and the benefit of pain relief is worth any unfounded talk of "addiction " you may have heard.

Do you call diarreah, sweating, chills, nausea, dizziness, muscle pain, anxiety, insomnia psycological??? I don't think so!!! Just because withdrawl symptoms didn't happen to you doesn't mean that it doesn't happen period. Since you are new here let me tell you something....THERE IS AN ENTIRE THREAD ABOUT ULTRAM ADDICTION AND LET ME TELL YOU FROM EXPEIRENCE THE SYMPTOMS ARE VERY REAL!!!

You know just because you were lucky and your body did not become dependent on the ultram doesn't mean it never happens. And I do say lucky because it happens alot.

You have no right to come on here and insult people who have been through hell with this drug. I have been through it myself and with other drugs and I am insulted that you would say it is"unfounded and pyschological"

For whoever said Ultram wasn't habit forming, I got this off this website. A very good friend of mine was addicted to it!

Ultram may be habit-forming. Tell your doctor if you feel the medicine is not working as well in relieving your pain. Do not change your dose without talking to your doctor.
Do not stop using this medication suddenly without talking to your doctor. You may need to gradually reduce the dose. Withdrawal symptoms may occur when you stop using Ultram. Withdrawal symptoms include anxiety, sweating, nausea, diarrhea, tremors, chills, hallucinations, trouble sleeping, or breathing problems. Call your doctor at once if you have any of these withdrawal symptoms after you stop using Ultram
