Default ultram

Question...I went to the dentist as an emergency a few days ago...he prescribed ultram for my pain and penicillin for my infected tooth...I have to have my tooth pulled, anyhow I looked it up and it said ultram is a narcotic...an opiate, well I go to a methadone clinic and I have to drop every monday...I am going to drop dirty arent I? For opiates?? I think its okay because I have a prescription but I am not going to take any more of them, not with my history of addiction...Does anyone here know anything about ultram?? is it a weak narcotic because honestly it didnt do anything more for me then a tylenol would do....except I got all jittery and sweaty and I didnt like the way I felt....

any info would be appreciated....

you think I am going to drop dirty for narcotics??

I don't know how long Tramadol stays in the system, but opiates stay for 3-5 days normally, now this site says "The elimination kinetics can be described as 2-compartmental, with a half-life of 5.1 hours for tramadol and 9 hours for the M1 derivative after a single oral dose of 100mg"
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/q...&dopt=Abstract
That seems kind of too short to me, I would go to a pharmacy and ask for the pharmacology info sheetlet from the pharmacy bottle, not the vague printout, it will state what the metabolism rate is.
I don't know if you can get into trouble if you test dirty for it, that depends on the contract you signed, but my hunch is, yes you will.
You better start chugging water again Liz ann.

I would take the Rx in with you and just tell them up front. You have a ligit reason for taking it and it was Rx to you. I would just be up front about it so they know ahead of time you may come out dirty. Don't try to hide it or dilute you sample that will make it look like you did something wrong. They can always call your dentist to verify that you had a procedure done.

I think that not taking anymore is probably a good idea. If you are not in that much pain than its better not tempt fate.

The thing is pain clinic contracts forbid any drug use, Rx or not without prior authorization, and you agree you will not accept pain prescriptions from any other doctors or ERs while you are under their care.
So showing the Rx bottle would put her in immediate violation, where as she still has a chance of passing a UA.

Liz ann you have to be more careful, you have too much to loose.

Well, guess what, you are all wrong, first of all even though tramadol/ultram is an opiate, it wont show up in your urine, my urine was clean, second, I am not in any violation, I had a legit reason for the prescription, they counted them to make sure I had thr ight amount in the bottle and she said it was fine if I took them and she wrote ot down in her little book, last time I had a tooth problem I was prescribed vicodins and she said as long as I had a prescription and I brought the bottle in that its fine, and yes I am in a methaodne clinic, not everyones rules are the same, trust me, I wasnt out drug seeking nor was I dr shopping, in fact when I got the script, I was offered vicodin for the pain and I turned it down, so I am not intentionally jeapordizing anything, your right I have too much to lose, thanks for your concern though

Good! Getting in trouble over something as weak as an Ultram would be devistating in your situation. I wonder why Ultram won't show up, maybe they don't look for it?
